Stewart Rose is a native New Yorker. In addition to performing with the New York City Ballet, he is Principal with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s and was Principal Horn with the New York City Opera for 24 years.
He is a frequent guest with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and has performed as guest principal horn with other leading orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Saito Kinen Festival Orchestra.
He recently released to critical acclaim, his first solo CD, “From the Forest,” a collection of early classical works for horn and orchestra by Haydn, Telemann, Leopold Mozart, and Christoph Forster with the St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble. In other genres he has recorded with Pat Metheny, Tony Bennett, Grover Washington, Paul Simon, Lenny Kravitz, Abbey Lincoln, and Aerosmith and can be heard on the New York Yankees YES network theme music.
