Gerhardt Koch, Clarinet

Gerhardt Koch joined the NYCBO as Principal Clarinet in 1986 and has appeared as soloist in ballets by Stravinsky, Weber and Lutoslawski. He has played with every constituent orchestra in Lincoln Center, including the Goldman Band and played with virtually every major conductor of his generation from Antonini to Zinman with stops off on Broadway and other venues from Maestro Salavatore Minichini’s Gran Italian Festival Band to Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks.

A graduate of The Juilliard School of Music where he studied with Augustin Duques, he served on the Trial Board of Local 802 AFM for fifteen years.

Mr. Koch moved over to Assistant Principal and E-Flat clarinet in 2010 and lives with his family in New York City.
