Washington native Nelly Kim joined the New York City Ballet Orchestra in 2005. Previously she had been a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, serving as one of the orchestra’s concertmasters under the direction of Michael Tilson-Thomas. She has performed as concertmaster at several music festivals including Spoleto USA, Aspen, and Tanglewood Music Center, where she was the recipient of the Pierre Mayer Award. As a soloist, she has appeared with the Tacoma Youth Symphony, Seattle Youth Symphony, Port Angeles Symphony, Seattle Philharmonic and New York City Ballet. She is a member of the Solare Chamber Players which performs in Greenwich, Connecticut. Nelly Kim received her Bachelors and Masters degree in Music Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, where she studied violin with James Buswell and chamber music with members of the Borromeo and Cleveland Quartet.
